1.)
(The story continues as it began, in black and white, save red flourishes.
Inside the cabin, Jack is carrying the cooler, while Karl leans around all lazy.)
JACK: I had a really good time at this lake.
KARL: Um, I don't really want to know what kind of 'good time' you had.
2.)
(Jack is annoyed at Karl's foolery.)
JACK: Hey! I was talking about emotional bonding with a friend! Don't tarnish my pleasant memories with your filthy mind.
3.)
(Karl is moving along to a window, Jack raising a red bottle with a taped-on label. This seems to be a 'when Karl's back is turned'-style move.)
KARL: Yeah, sorry.
4.)
(The label can now be read: JACK'S "PAINT WATER" DO NOT DRINK. He is drinking it while Karl talks from off-panel.)
KARL: You're not just the kid who lives to get high. I know.
5.)
(Jack has turned to face Karl and gestures hopefully. The "paint water" is out of sight and he holds a canned beverage for Karl.)
JACK: C'mon, we're out in nature, the weather's nice for once, it's quiet... Kind of romantic? Just a little?
6.)
(Karl hoists his can and looks cheerful out the window. We can see him from outside, where a figure
lurks unnoticed. The creeping humanoid has patchy hair, pale skin, and a mask from "Party Village.")
KARL: Well, maybe so. Maybe it is. |
