CHAPTER 11 - PAGE 15

(Transcript and visual captions below)

    Ellen set the carafe of warmed blood on the table and Sarah actually acknowledged her for once. She looked up wearily and poured herself a tall glass.
    "I'm dying for an intellectual conversation that is NOT about the 'G' word, as much as I love Lord Greyburn... All I've got is that babbling rabbit I turned. I guess it was a mistake to imagine he might be at all interesting just because he's kind of hot. Why can't more men be as interesting as Tomasz? I'm wilting, Helen, absolutely... wilting."
    Ellen nodded dutifully and handed the carafe across the table to Tristan. Her head turned-- a commotion outside. She rushed to get her sword from where she'd leaned it. How medieval... but wasn't that kind of appropriate these days?

In which The Kingfisher gets on the road again, like a John Denver song, or a taxi full of vampires, work with us here.

Lord Greyburn went limp in Ellen's arms. She pulled him back to the abbey, his long limbs splaying out like an unmoored scarecrow, dragging his bare feet through the gravel.
    Sarah flexed increasingly bestial claws.
    "He's GONE? That little goblin took MY BOY? The fucking nerve!"
    "Calm down," Ellen said, almost shouting to be heard over Aubrey's sobs. "It's not like they can go far."
    "No shit. Little runts can take the short bus back to that grody little club fast as they can. Doesn't matter."
Ellen averted her eyes, having a typical reaction to the twisted monster face of a Dragomir child. Sarah unfurled her leathery wings and took off with powerful movement. The wind tossed Ellen's hair.
    "Call me if you ... run into Theodore ... or whatever."
She went back inside to tend her enfeebled master. It was a headache she was used to, unlike the weirdness Sarah was about to experience.

With profound love for the fans, we resume the comic! It will take some getting used to, and NaNoWriMo is upon us, so updates shall be slow for a while here. But once again, forward motion is happening. And appropriately, on the only good holiday of the year - Halloween! (also known as Kingfishermas) How was yours? <3

       TRANSCRIPT: This is the text of the comic, for purposes such as translation and internet searches.

1.)

 (Allison has pulled a knife on Greyburn, as he floats in her personal space all monstered out.)

ALLISON: Uh! Uh... Just back off!

2.)

 (Sarah and Ellen show up nearby, Tristan in tow. Ellen has a sword.)

SARAH: What's-- Oh, it's HER!

ELLEN: Dad? What are you...

3.)

   (Hypnotic moth angel Aubrey Greyburn swirls about Allison as she looks confused with her situation. In the
background, a demonic form appears. Though when Greyburn refers to demons here, he's talking about Allison.
)

GREYBURN: I rebuke thee, demon!

ALLISON: Uh...

4.)

  (The demon makes the scene to do battle with Aubrey. It is a green skelly thing with blades about the head and a
blade for a tongue, using weird pink severed human arms like gloves. Aubrey finds it distasteful, Allison lurks away.
)

GREYBURN: What petty foolery do you bring upon me?

5.)

(Sarah and Ellen hector Aubrey on his demon fighting ways and Allison grabs Tristan's arm in the background.)

SARAH: Ugh, just kill it already!

ELLEN: Dad, get away from that thing! Damn it, Thierry...

6.)

(Silhouetted, Allison leads Tristan to the waiting taxi.)

7.)

(Startled Tristan and action Allison get into the taxi on either side of grumpy Thierry,
    who uses malocchio-shaped gestures to work his demon magics from afar..
)

THIERRY: Did I mention how much I hate doing things?

ALLISON: Just go, dude!

8.)

(Greyburn lurches in front of the taxi, but the green demon is fast behind.)

GREYBURN: Hear me or perish, wicked beasts!

9.)

(The demon has nearly gripped Greyburn's shoulders, as the oblivious vampire takes out his crankiness on the taxi occupants.)

GREYBURN: Your hateful presence shall not haunt my--

10.)

  (The demon has Aubrey in the grips of distraction, its eyes now bugging out of sockets and
burning with fire. Its mouth blade appears to be a tiny sword held in a tiny human-like arm.
)

GREYBURN: My... Ehm...

11.)

(As the taxi gets away, Sarah tries to rouse Aubrey by slapping him. The demon doesn't know what to do.)

SARAH: Wake up, you crazy freak!

12.)

(In the background, Ellen dispatches the demon with a decisive sword
 stroke. In the foreground Aubrey cries in lament and Sarah is ragey.
)

AUBREY: No, no... Lord, I pray to--

SARAH: DON'T EVEN!
