1.)
(Close-up of Jack's weary, mostly closed eyes. Background is the decaying Kellgren estate.)
OFF PANEL VOICE: Jack.
2.)
(Jack's whole face, nodding off to sleep.)
3.)
(Jack is startled to wakefulness, revealing the whites of his eyes are blood red, his face and body still flecked with blood from his recent ordeal.)
OFF PANEL VOICE: Jack! Wake up!
4.)
(Across the table, the voice is revealed to be Theodore. They are seated at a
candle-lit table, which is topped with a glass of red and a vase of poppies.)
THEODORE: You need to stay conscious right now.
Good. See, you’re going to be just fine. It’s safe here.
5.)
THEODORE: Jack, when we met, I asked you something.
You said no, but I think you may have changed your mind by now.
There is so much danger, so much evil out there.
I can’t always be here to save you. No one can.
You’ll have to save yourself, but you can’t do it as you are now.
6.)
(Jack looks disastrous, shirt open and chest wrapped in bloody bandages. The red glass sits close to him.)
7.)
(Jack's hand reaches for the glass.)
THEODORE: (Off panel) Do you understand? Yes, that glass is for you.
8.)
(As Jack drinks, Theodore calls a servant woman, who moves a bit awkwardly.)
THEODORE: Edith? Thank you. We are ready.
9.)
(The woman carries a tray, shaking. She is disheveled and has a blood-flecked apron.)
THEODORE: Edith has prepared something special.
10.)
(Edith looks either blank or terrified, blood trickling from an ear, dotted with Theodore's spiders.) |
