Jack saw Helen and Darren approaching, and immediately recalled his annoyance with them. Darren being let off the hook by Helen, never having had to murder someone unwillingly. However, when he saw how pathetic and scared Darren seemed, and Helen's genuine seeming friendliness, he couldn't keep his grudge going.
Darren might have lucked out, but maybe he needs it. He seems like a real wuss.

       "Dang Veets, calm down! I don't think I've ever seen so many of your teeth before."
       "Ugh not that too. Yes, I liked sweeties when I was a boy, I'm forever paying the price."
       "Sensitive subject? Actually, they're pretty cute. Anyway-- what's the big deal? Darren's weird, but not that bad."
       "It's not Darren, it's Helen. You don't know how she is. Once you owe her something it's never ending torment. Figures she'd work her way in through you. She tricked you, didn't she?"
       "What? No..."
       "She just happened to turn the subject to training, didn't she? A 'crazy idea' or something?"
       "...Well, yes."
       "I knew it!! I'm damned Jack. Wait, maybe you are too. That will be my consolation."
       "Gee, thanks."

I forgot what I was going to write here, so instead I will express my extreme relief that my oatmeal almost, but did not actually overflow in the microwave. I take my oatmeal deadly serious. Also, I really liked drawing the little fishes.

HELEN : Jack, this is Darren. I heard you both love Monkey Adventure! See, I know what that is! I’m so modern!

JACK: How's it going?

DARREN: Awesome. Never. Been. Better.

JACK: Ooh kay...

HELEN: It’s a game for a video right?

SERVANT: Drink?

JACK: Was that ethically obtained?

VITUS: Ready to take off?

JACK: Hell y--

DARREN: Hey, Jack was it? Can I have a word with you?

JACK : Uh, what’s up?

DARREN: We've got to kill these monsters.

JACK: WHAT?! Are you crazy?!

DARREN: No, listen! Damn freaks have like.. magic powers! You gotta help me man!

JACK: Impossible. Even with practice they’ll--

HELEN: Oh there you are sweetie! Are you guys talking about practicing your skills?

JACK: Exactly!

HELEN: Hey, crazy idea... How about the two of you train together?

JACK: Umm... okay?

HELEN: Wonderful! Tell Vitus that's his favor to me!.

JACK: So Helen says Darren needs a strong male role model and--
